The Saints were able to earn two wins in the doubles round and one in the singles, but it was not enough as the St. Lawrence University Women's tennis team was handed just their second loss of the year to Smith College, Monday afternoon at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.
St. Lawrence falls to 4-2 on the year as Smith improves to 4-2.
For St. Lawrence, Molly Jespersen and Elena Styliades earned an 8-4 win over Ayla Hauser and Marielle Sauber in the number 1 doubles position while Ariane Karera and Yvette Karera gained an 8-6 win over Clara Goshgarian and Aranne Jung in the number 2 doubles position.
Meredith Macey picked up the lone singles win for the Saints in the number 5 spot, earning the win in three sets over Sabrina Wang, 6-2, 1-6, and 10-7.
The Scarlet and Brown return to action in Orlando on Tuesday, March 19th for a doubleheader day where they will face the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire at 8 a.m. before going up against Warner University (Fla.) in the nightcap at 5 p.m.
