It was another strong showing for
Alli Sibold this weekend, as she finished the Boston University Bruce Lehane Scarlet and White Invite with one of the best mile run performances in Saints program history.
Sibold was the 32
nd-place finisher in an event which featured a strong field of competitors from prestigious clubs and NCAA student-athletes from multiple divisions, including Division I. The senior from Wellesley, Mass. registered a time of 4:54.28.
"We took advantage of a great opportunity for Alli to get into a high-level competitive experience in the mile on the banked track at BU today," said
Kate Howard, head coach of the Saints women's track and field program. "She showed great racing savvy and poise in a loaded field of competitors which sets her up nicely for success during the championship stretch of the season. We're looking forward to our meet next weekend at Ocean Breeze and beyond."
The time from Sibold was three seconds off the mile record she set earlier this year at the Utica Winter Opener. It's the second-fastest time in the event in the history of Saints women's track and field.
Sibold was the lone Saints runner in the women's field. The Saints return to the track with the Wednesday, Feb. 7 as they head to Plattsburgh State for the sprint/field meet at 4 p.m.
