Chapleau would get the first of two goals as he was fed a pass by
Felikss Gavars by way of
Justin Paul. Chapleau let go of a heavy wrist shot that beat Kyle Chauvette to get the Saints on the board.
Later in the major penalty,
Drake Burgin found Salem at the top of the man-advantage where he fired a one-timer past Chauvette to take the lead.
The Scarlet and Brown would get another five-minute power play in the second period as they attempted to extend the lead. On the chance,

The third period was a slow one in terms of shots with both teams playing possession hockey. Things would ratchet up later in the third when the Saints were tagged with a penalty in the final three minutes.
The Scarlet and Brown would kill the effort then would be afforded a power play with just moments left in regulation. As a result, St. Lawrence went on a 4-on-3 three man-advantage to start the overtime period and despite numerous chances could not find the game-winner.
Instead, the game went to a shootout for the extra league point.
Logan Ritchie was up first for the Saints and saw his shot narrowly miss after clipping Chauvette. Union would score on their effort before Gavars went to the line. The sophomore was also stopped leading to Hanley closing the shootout with a five-hole shot to claim the second league point in the tie game.
Ben Kraws stopped 21 saves in the effort, while Chauvette made 27 saves in the Union goal.
