Saints Stun Nazareth on Senior Day, 21-8

The St. Lawrence University women's lacrosse team exploded in an offensive outburst, as the Scarlet and Brown topped Nazareth 21-8 in non-conference action on Tuesday's senior day at Hall-Leet Stadium.

Charlotte Powell scored five goals, assisted on two others, caused a turnover and won two draws to lead the Saints, while Neve Ley scored four goals and won three draws. Rachel Burke recorded a hat trick and an assist, while Morgan Arakelian scored twice and tallied four assists. Dana Fernandez and Jacqui Cloutier also scored twice, while Bella Hillman, Caroline Hamilton and Ellie Camp all scored once. Cloutier also picked up four draw control wins, three ground balls and caused one turnover.

It was all St. Lawrence from the start, as the Scarlet and Brown scored the first five goals to build a 5-1 lead after the first quarter.

The second quarter was paced with a combined 12 goals and a bit of back-and-forth action. The Saints would net the first two and then the teams would trade goals through the next eight tallies. St. Lawrence held a 13-5 advantage at halftime.

The Golden Flyers added two goals in the third frame, but were outscored 5-2, as the Saints continued to lead 18-7 with one quarter to play.

Goals from Burke, Camp and Hamilton in the fourth quarter helped seal the senior-day win for the Saints.

"Today was a great day to celebrate our seniors," said head coach Chelsea Martin. "This was a true team win. Our offense played well and our defense made some key stops and adjustments."

Emma States led the Golden Flyers with four goals, two assists and three draw control wins.

Raelynn Bovenzi made four saves for the win in goal, while Allie Klestinec made nine.

The Saints outshot Nazareth 39-18, including 32-13 in shots on goal. St. Lawrence also picked up 19 ground balls, to Nazareth's 12.

With the win, the Scarlet and Brown improved to 8-6 overall, while Nazareth fell to 8-7.

Following today's game the Saints honored the 10 members of the Class of 2023: Maggie Green, Laura Wells, Dana Fernandez, Jacqui Cloutier, Kate Wilson, Ava Marshall, Rachel Burke, Charlotte Powell, Raelynn Bovenzi and Paige Glasgow.
