On a perfect senior day in Canton, N.Y., the St. Lawrence men's tennis team earned a perfect 9-0 victory over Bard at the Sammis Tennis Courts.
The Scarlet and Brown improved to 6-7 with the win and 2-4 in Liberty League play. Bard fell to 2-9, and 0-7 in conference action with the loss.
After the matches, both tennis teams celebrated the Class of 2023 in seniors
Guy Holbrook,
Nathan Turtledove, and
James Wolpe.
In doubles,
Adam Heilbronner and
Broderick Pinto took on Noah Gulla and Thanasis Kostikas and came away with an 8-4 win at number one. At two,
Edvin Strandberg and
John Hill-Edgar continued their great play with an 8-2 win. At three,
Cole Hamilton and
Will de Chabert swept Faisal Jones and Yashar Khan 8-0. Â
Turtledove earned his second win of the day at one singles beating Gulla 7-5, 6-2. At two, his doubles partner
Ben Moolman took on Kostikas and won 6-1, 6-1.
At number three,
Aidan Baracao took on Kai O'Donnell 6-1, 6-0, while Holbrook won his senior match 6-0, 6-3 over Drew Soleiman at four. Wolpe also won his senior match beating Jones at number five 6-1, 6-0.
Bobby Tremont finished off the day at number six with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep against Henry Wandover.
The Saints will wrap up their regular season next weekend when they take on Ithaca on Saturday, April 22 then Hobart College on Sunday, April 23.
