Alli Sibold won the mile in at the AARTFC Championship meet to lead the St. Lawrence University women's track and field team on Saturday afternoon in New York City.
Sibold went out fast in the third and final heat and led for the opening three laps. 400 meters later she had fallen back to sixth place, but over the next 400 meters she fought back and entered the bell lap in third. Her final lap was in 34.21 seconds, over three seconds better than anyone else in the field, and she broke the tape in a personal best of 5:02.71.
Emma Palumbo,
Olivia Watson, and
Katherine Sheehy competed in the 3,000 meters. Palumbo led the trio, finishing with a lifetime best of 10:08.72 for fifth place. Watson also finished with a personal best, crossing in 10:28.52 for 13
th place, and Sheehy was 17
th in 10:30.74.
Alexis Parent finished second in her heat of the 800 meters. She ran a personal best by over two seconds and crossed the line in 2:22.32.
The Saints finished the 41 team meet in 17
th place. The outdoor season begins on April 1
st with the Saints Broken Open in the Merrick-Pinkard Track and Field Complex.
