Senior captain
Julia Gosling recorded her 100th career point on her second of three assists on the evening, while
Sarah Marchand and
Taylor Lum recorded three-point nights, as the seventh-ranked St. Lawrence University women's hockey team defeated Brown 4-0 on Saturday at Appleton Arena.
To get things started for the Saints, Gosling sent a cross-ice pass to
Kennedy Emerson, who fired a shot from the top of the left circle and beat Brown goaltender Kaley Doyle top shelf for her first collegiate goal in Scarlet and Brown.
The Saints struck again, as Marchand scooted her way through multiple defenders and backhanded a shot in for the 2-0 lead.
After two periods of play, the Saints held the lead on the scoreboard, despite Brown holding a 7-5 edge in shots on goal.
With just about a minute and a half remaining in the second period, Gosling recorded her 100th-career point, joining the Paul Flanagan '80 Century Club. She dished the puck up from behind the Bears' goal line and found Lum on the doorstep, increasing the Saints lead to 3-0. Marchand also assisted on the play.
After the second period, St. Lawrence led 22-16 in shots on goal.
With 6:35 remaining in the third, the Bears pulled Doyle for the extra attacker.
Marchand added her second of the game, and third point of the game, with an empty-net tally at 15:19 of the third for her ninth goal of the season.
"We found our stride in the second period," said head coach
Chris Wells. "That was good to see, as we played one of the better periods of the year. Even though we were up 2-0 after one, Brown had some good chances and kept us from generating any sustained play."

"Emma and our penalty kill were solid again today to keep Brown off the board and it was a good way to finish the weekend and our team played with good energy today."
Saints' goaltender
Emma-Sofie Nordström made 25 saves and recorded her third career shutout, while Doyle also made 25 stops for the Bears. Neither team was able to capitalize on their power-play opportunities.
St. Lawrence finished with a 29-25 edge in shots on goal.
With the win, the Saints improved to 12-3-0 and 6-0-0 in ECAC Hockey play, while Brown fell to 5-6-1 and 4-5-1, respectively.
The Saints will travel to Ohio State to face the second-ranked Buckeyes in a post-Thanksgiving weekend series, November 24 and 25. Puck drop is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday and 3 p.m. on Saturday.
