Molly Jespersen, and
Angelica Aksdal-Jansen all earned first round wins for the St. Lawrence University women's tennis team at the ITA Northeast Regionals hosted by Hamilton College on Friday.
In the Main Draw of the singles bracket, Gamble earned a first-round win over William Smith's Isabella Goings-Perrot despite falling 6-1 in the opening set. The senior bounced back winning 6-4 and 10-6 sets to advance. In the next round, Gamble faced Shannon Cicero of Hamilton and won the opening set 6-1. The senior ended up falling to end the run.
Like her teammate, Aksdal-Jansen fell in her first set against Skidmore's Ella Provost. After falling 6-3 to start, the first-year took the next two sets 6-3, and 10-6 to take the win. Her run was ended by Konika Dhull in the second-round, who took the 6-4, 6-4 win.
Jespersen also earned a first-round win as she faced Bard's Nicol Gusac. The first-year won 6-1, 6-0 to advance to the next round against NYU's Karina Jensrud. Jensrud would end up taking the win to advance.
The ITA Northeast Regionals will continue into its second day tomorrow from Hamilton College.
