The St. Lawrence University men's hockey team and Charles W. Appleton II Head Men's Hockey Coach
Brent Brekke have selected
Tim Makowski '23,
Aleksi Peltonen '23, and
Jordan Steinmetz '23 as team captains for the 2022-2023 season. All three players will wear a "C" for the Skating Saints this year.
"We are excited about this trio of captains!" said Brekke "They are all outstanding young men and are a great representation of our Skating Saints program, and St. Lawrence University. Each of them have their own style of leadership and compliment one another well. Their drive and desire to be successful will push our entire team daily and meet the high expectations we have as a program."
Makowski, a senior from St. Louis, Mo., wore the "A" for the Scarlet and Brown in 2021-22. The defenseman finished last season with seven points on two goals and five assists. Makowski led the Saints last year with a team-high +5 plus/minus rating consistently providing St. Lawrence with reliable defending.
Peltonen, a senior from Helsinki, Finland, was fourth on the team a season ago with 14 points on four goals and ten assists in 27 games played. The forward also provided two goals and two assists in the Saints playoff run last year.
Steinmetz, a senior from Chippewa Falls, Wis., was tied for fourth in the Saints' lineup with five goals on the year. The forward finished the year with four assists as well for nine points. Like Peltonen, Steinmetz scored twice and tallied two assists in the playoffs a season ago.
The Skating Saints are scheduled to open the 2022-23 campaign on Saturday, October 1st, when they travel to Lowell, Mass. to take on No. 17/16 UMass Lowell. St. Lawrence will then return to Appleton Arena on October 7-8 to host Merrimack College and the University of New Hampshire on Laurentian Weekend.
