Catherine Gamble and
Molly Jespersen won the flight A Championship today as the St. Lawrence University women's tennis team hosted day two of the St. Lawrence University Invitational on Sunday at the Sammis Tennis Courts and the Newell Field House.
The Invitational is being played with Billie Jean King Cup scoring where duos play a doubles match, and two singles matches with the best-of-three advancing in the bracket.
In the A flight, Gamble and Jespersen took on Union's Nicol and Karadimou and swept the doubles round 8-0. Then in singles, Gamble took an 8-5 win over Karadimou, while her first-year teammate swept Nicol 8-0 to take the flight.
In the B flight,
Elena Styliades and
Gabriella Dadoly took on Union's Tromblee and Hirnak for third place. In doubles, the duo of Styliades and Dadoly took the 8-5 win over the Union pair. In singles, Styliades took down Hirnak 8-6 to clinch the 2-1 victory and the third-place finish.
The Scarlet and Brown will wrap up their Fall schedule next weekend when the team travels to Hamilton College to take part in the ITA Northeast Regionals. The Regionals will run from Friday, September 23rd until Sunday, September 25th.
