The duo of Catherine Gamble and Molly Jespersen advanced to the A Flight Championship as the St. Lawrence University women's tennis team hosted day one of the St. Lawrence University Invitational on Saturday at the Sammis Tennis Courts and the Newell Field House.

The Invitational is being played with Billie Jean King Cup-style scoring where duos play a doubles match, and two singles matches with the best-of-three advancing in the bracket.

In the A flight, Gamble and Jespersen advanced at 3-0 after winning their doubles match 8-0 over Rockwood and Paolina of Geneseo, then won their singles matches 8-1, and 8-0 respectively.

The duo won their semifinal match 3-0 as well against Maidani and Alexis of Union. The tandem won their doubles match 8-4, then Gamble and Jespersen won their singles match 8-6, and 8-4. The two will take on Nicol and Karadimou of Union in the Championship tomorrow.

In the B flight, Elena Styliades, and Gabriella Dadoly took their opening round 3-0 as they dispatched Xiong of Union and Kujawa of Geneseo. The duo won their doubles match 8-1, then took their singles matches 8-0, 8-1 respectively.

The pair fell in the semifinal round and will take on Tromblee and Xiong tomorrow in the 3rd place match of the "B" flight.
