Neve Ley netted a hat trick and
Charlotte Powell scored two goals and added three assists to lead the St. Lawrence University women's lacrosse team to an 18-7 win over Oswego State on Tuesday afternoon at Hall-Leet Stadium.
Callie O'Neil,
Laura Wells,
Jaime Allan,
Jacqui Cloutier and
Rachel Burke all scored twice, while
Morgan Arakelian tallied four assists in the win.
Isabel Silvia had a team-best three caused turnovers and three ground balls, while Powell also added three caused turnovers.
Much like last Saturday's win, the Saints stormed out scoring six-straight goals over the Lakers and led 6-1 at the end of the first quarter.
Oswego State added two goals to bring the game within three on back-to-back goals from Julia Quirk.
The Saints responded well on goals from O'Neil, Silvia and Burke to close the first have with a 9-3 lead.
Allan netted back-to-back goals to extend the Scarlet and Brown's lead to 11-3 and after a Laker's goal from Isabella Lembo, the Saints added seven straight goals, including unassisted tallies from Cloutier and Ley.
Ley scored her third of the game off a feed from
Susan Hartgers, pushing the lead to 18-4.
Oswego State added three goals down the stretch, but were unable to close the gap.
"The team worked really well together today offensively and played an unselfish game," said head coach
Chelsea Martin. "The team also worked hard to turn the ball over in the restraining lines and both goalies made key saves when needed."
"The team hopes to carry this momentum into our stretch of road games coming up, Martin added"
Quirk and Sela Wiley led the Lakers with two goals each, while Shea McConnell recorded three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Raelynn Bovenzi recorded her second win of the season with five saves and was relieved by
Courtney Lynn, who made four. Sarah Kamide finished with seven for the Lakers.
The Saints finished with a 25-16 advantage in shots on goal and controlled the ground ball game 19-17.
St. Lawrence improved to 2-0, while Oswego fell to 0-4.
The Saints will hit the road for spring break and face Saint Michael's, Plattsburgh, SUNY Brockport and the University of Rochester in the coming week.
