Judge Murphy scored four goals, while Chris Jordan added three goals and three assists and the Saint's defense held SUNY Cortland to just 14 shots on goal, as the No. 15 St. Lawrence University men's lacrosse team defeated SUNY Cortland 14-8 on Saturday afternoon to complete the spring break sweep in Cornelius, N. With the win, the Saints improved to 5-1, while Cortland fell to 2-3.

Guthrie Little picked up a team-best seven ground balls and caused two turnovers, while Padraic Condon went 15-for-18 and Brendan Brigham went 4-for-6 in the faceoff circle.

After a strong defensive battle to start, Cortland's Zak Jones was the first to the scoresheet with an unassisted goal at 12:33. Ben Hutchinson responded with the first man-up goal for the Saints with his fifth of the season at 6:45.

The Red Dragons added one more to take a 2-1 lead after the first quarter of play.

Murphy opened scoring in the second frame and was followed up by another from the Red Dragons. After that, the Saints went on to score eight unanswered goals in a second-quarter surge to lead 9-3 at the halftime break and 10-3 to start the third on a goal from Jordan for his 11th of the year.

Cortland netted back-to-back goals, but traded goals with the Saints down the stretch and were unable to dodge the Saints defense to mount a comeback.

"I thought that was our most complete game of the season so far," said head coach Mike Mahoney. "I'm really proud of the effort and execution in all facets of the game. The Liberty League is as strong collectively as ever, so we know that we will need to continue stay the course as we prepare for conference  play."
