No. 12 Saints Fall to No. 10 Union Under the Lights, 13-10

The 10th-ranked Union Dutchmen outscored the No. 12 St. Lawrence University men's lacrosse team 5-0 in the fourth quarter, en route to a 13-10 win in Liberty League action, under the lights at Hall-Leet Stadium on Friday.
 
Chris Jordan and Josh Huiatt each tallied three goals, while Jordan added an assist for four points on the night. Jack Hennessey added a goal and two assists, while Mark Mahoney, Judge Murphy, and Ben Hutchinson all added one of each. Joe Scarfi picked up a team-best three ground balls and caused one turnover, while Tripp Clark led the Saints with two caused turnovers. Padraic Condon went 6-for-15 from the faceoff circle.
 
The Saints hit the scoresheet first, as Murphy tallied his 11th of the season off the pass from Chris Jordan, but Union wasn't far behind as the Dutchmen scored the next two to take a 2-1 lead with 11:28 to play in the first.
 
Huiatt's 10th of the season and Ben Hutchinson's fifth, knotted the game at three apiece and Huiatt would score the final goal of the quarter to put the Scarlet and Brown up 4-3 after the first 15 minutes of play.  
 
Jordan scored his 10th of the season to put the Saints up 5-3, but Union scored the next two, to tie the game up at five.
 
St. Lawrence ended the first half on a 3-1 run to lead 8-6 at halftime.
 
Both team's would score twice in the third quarter, with Hennessey capitalizing on a man-up opportunity and Jordan scoring his 12th of the year, and the Saints would lead 10-8 heading into the final frame.
 
The Dutchmen outscored the Saints 5-0 in the fourth quarter to tie the game and seal the win.
 
"It was a great back and forth battle for three quarters and credit to Union, they made the plays down the stretch," said head coach Mike Mahoney. "We will learn from this and look forward to the opportunity to respond next week."
 

 
Peter Burnes led Union with four goals and two assists, while Peter Kip and Hayden Fry each recorded two goals. Ryan Puglisi finished with three ground balls and three caused turnovers.
 
William Helm made a season-best 16 saves in the loss, while Dan Donahue made 13 saves for the Dutchmen.
 
Union outshot the Saints 47-35 and lead 29-23 in shots on goal. St. Lawrence converted on 1-of-2 man-up opportunities, and kill off both of the Dutchmen penalties.
 
With the loss, the Saints moved to 5-2 overall and 0-1 in conference play, while Union improved to 7-0, 1-0.
 
St. Lawrence will travel to Ithaca next Saturday, April 2 for a 3 p.m. matchup against the Bombers.
