Judge Murphy tallied a season-best five goals and three assists and the No. 14 St. Lawrence University men's lacrosse team shutout Ithaca 5-0 in the fourth quarter to lead the Saints to a 14-10 win over the Bombers on Saturday afternoon in Ithaca, New York.

With the win, the Saints improved to 6-2 overall and 1-1 in Liberty League action, while Ithaca fell to 8-2 and 1-1, respectively.

Josh Huiatt and
Jack Hennessey each recorded a hat trick, while
Mark Mahoney,
Ben Murtagh and
Ben Hutchinson also scored for the Scarlet and Brown.
Padraic Condon picked up a career-best 11 ground balls and went 15-for-17 from the faceoff dot for a .882 faceoff percentage, while
Brendan Brigham went 10-for-11, picked up seven ground balls and posted a .909 faceoff percentage.

In an early back-and-forth battle, Huiatt put the Scarlet and Brown on the board just 45 seconds into the opening frame, but the two teams traded goals and were tied 2-2 with 8:44 left in the first quarter.
St. Lawrence would score the next four goals straight to build a 6-2 advantage, but the Bombers tacked on two goals in the final one minute and twelve seconds to close the gap to two after the first 15 minutes of play.

Ithaca outscored the Saints 4-2 in the second quarter and the two teams headed into the break tied at 8-8.

Jack Erickson and Blake Eischen both recorded unassisted goals to open the third quarter and give the Bombers their first lead of the game, making it 10-8.

The Saints responded well, as Murphy closed the gap to one goal with his 18th of the season to close the third quarter and St. Lawrence scored all five goals in the fourth to secure the win. To go along with five goals in the fourth, the Saints' defense held Ithaca to just six shots and only two shots on goal in the final frame.

"Really proud of the effort by the team today," said head coach
Mike Mahoney. "It was a gutsy effort on the road and it showed that they willing to stay the course on this season, which will continue to present challenges around every corner. We'll enjoy the bus ride home and gear up for a quick turn around on Tuesday."
John Sramac led the Bombers with four goals, while Eischen added two goals and an assist. Wesley Hudkins caused four turnovers and picked up two ground balls.
William Helm finished with 14 stops for the Saints, while Ryan Laforty made nine saves for Ithaca.
St. Lawrence dominated the faceoff circle, going 25-3 against the Bombers. The Saints also led the ground ball game 36-19 and while they outshot the Bombers 44-40, Ithaca led 24-23 in shots on goal.
The Saints will face a quick turnaround, as they host Plattsburgh State on Tuesday, April 5 at 7 p.m. before traveling to Skidmore for another game under the lights on Friday, April 8.
