The Saints got bookend wins from
Lewis Anderson and
Oliver Bikhazi-Green in the number one and nine spots, but it was not enough as the No. 15 St. Lawrence University men's squash team fell to No. 9 Drexel 7-2 on Saturday afternoon at Cornell University.
"The guys hung in well against a tough top-8 team today," said head coach
Scott Denne "We had glimpses of good squash from Oliver getting a big win at nine as well as Lewis maintaining his unbeaten record against Drexel's number one. With a couple of injuries and down a couple of players we struggled in our mid-order and we hope to give it our best shot tomorrow."
For the first time this season, Anderson faced significant adversity in a match. The undefeated first-year lost his first set of the season 13-11 to Lucas Rousselet in the opening game. Anderson came back winning the next two sets 11-9, 11-5 to take the lead. Rousselet won the fourth to push the match to a fifth game. Anderson took the final set to keep his perfect record intact with an 11-9 win.
In the number nine spot, Bikhazi-Green earned a sweep over Drexel's Emil Snyman. The sophomore battled to 11-6, 11-6, 11-9 wins to take the point.
The Scarlet and Brown will wrap up their trip to Ithaca tomorrow at 11:00 when they take on No. 9 Cornell University.
