Allison "Rosie" Phillips was named St. Lawrence University's Head Softball Coach on July 1, as announced by Senior Vice President for Athletics
Bob Durocher.
"I'm very pleased to announce the hiring of
Rosie Phillips as our new softball coach," said Durocher. "We had an outstanding pool of candidates, but Rosie stood out for her coaching and wide range of work in two Division III athletic conferences. Not only does she currently coach athletes headed to the Division I level, but she also brings a wealth of knowledge having served as the Assistant Commissioner and Senior Women's Administrator for the Northwest Conference, as well as working in the SUNYAC. Rosie also brings important qualities and characteristics that will assist in making our department even stronger. I'd like to thank our search committee for their hard work on finding us the most qualified person for the job."
Most recently, Phillips worked as the Assistant Commissioner/Senior Woman Administrator for the Northwest Conference and was the Head Softball Coach for the Arizona Hotshots Gold, where many of her top players continue on to play for Division I programs. She is also an active member of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, Women Leaders in College Sports, and Women in Sports and Entertainment.
Phillips graduated with a Bachelor's of Arts degree in political science in 2017 and a Master's of Science degree in sports management in 2020. She received both degrees from SUNY Cortland.
During her four-year softball career with the Red Dragons, her team earned the SUNYAC Championship Title three year and made three appearances in the NCAA Tournament. The Red Dragons were also named NCAA Regional Champions in 2017 and Phillips was named the Regional MVP, SUNYAC First-Team All-Conference, All-ECAC Honorable Mention, a Red Letter Award winner and a NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete.
"I am extremely excited and grateful to join the St. Lawrence community as Head Softball Coach," said Phillips. "I would like to extend a sincere thank you Senior Associate Vice President for Athletics
Bob Durocher, Associate Athletic Director
Fran Grembowicz, and the search committee for selecting me to fill this role. I see so much opportunity for growth and success in this program, and it is so great to be a part of such a supportive and welcoming athletic department. I am eager to get started and look forward to calling St. Lawrence and Canton home!"
