The St. Lawrence University softball team was shut down by tough pitching and struggled with defensive miscues, falling to the University of Rochester by 16-0 and 10-0 scores in a pair of five-inning Liberty League contests on Saturday afternoon in Rochester.

Rochester pitchers Emily Sharlach and Abbie Biggs held the Saints to just two hits in each contest.
McKailey Lyndaker was 2-for-2 with a double in the opener, and
Meredith Rose and
Tori Rotundo hit singles in the second game for the Saints.

St. Lawrence, now 0-7 overall and 0-4 in the Liberty League, will be back in action next weekend, hosting Skidmore on Friday before traveling to Saratoga Springs to face the Thoroughbreds on the road.

Game 1: Rochester 16, St. Lawrence 0 (5 innings)
St. Lawrence pitchers
Gabby Slater and
Jacee Casebolt combined to allow just two earned runs, but the Yellowjackets took advantage of nine errors to build a 13-0 lead through two innings, then added three more runs in the third.

Jen Carson was 2-for-4 with a double and four RBI. Hannah Keiper was 3-for-4 with a double, and Sammi Re was 2-for-3. Alexis Pope and Allison Beckwith were both 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Sharlach struck out nine batters and only allowed Lyndaker to reach base for the complete game victory for the Yellowjackets.

Game 2: Rochester 10, St. Lawrence 0 (5 innings)
Toni Anne Hahn was 2-or-3 with a grand slam and a double, knocking in five runs to lead Rochester in the second game of the afternoon. Rochester scored four runs in the third and six in the fourth, and Biggs allowed just three runners to reach base in a complete-game victory.

Keiper also hit a home run and had three RBI for Rochester, which improved to 5-3 overall and 4-0 in the Liberty League.
