Saints Swept by Skidmore

Skylar Hein hit her fifth double of the season, but the St. Lawrence University softball team dropped a pair of Liberty League contests at Skidmore on Saturday, falling by 6-4 and 8-0 scores.

The Saints will face Clarkson in a home-and-home series next weekend, playing at Clarkson on Saturday and hosting the Golden Knights on Sunday.

Game 1: Skidmore 6, St. Lawrence 4

McKailey Lyndaker gave St. Lawrence an early 1-0 lead, scoring on a wild pitch in the top of the first inning, but the Thoroughbreds responded with three runs in the bottom half of the inning on a two-run double by Hannah Davis and an RBI single by Chloe McGonagle.

Lyndaker scored her second run of the game on an error in the third inning to cut the lead to one, but Skidmore again responded in the bottom of the frame, scoring a pair of runs on RBI singles by Kaitlyn Judd and McGonagle.

Sofia Adams scored on an RBI groundout by Zola Braswell in the top of the fourth inning, and Hein hit an RBI double in the fifth to cut the lead to 5-4, but the Thoroughbreds scored an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth on a wild pitch.

Margo Hopper, Hein, Adams and Braswell had hits for the Saints. Judd, Davis, McGonagle and Grace O'Connell all went 2-for-3 for Skidmore.

Davis earned the complete-game win for Skidmore, allowing two earned runs on four hits with six strikeouts and four walks.

Lyndaker took the loss for the Saints, allowing four runs on five hits in two innings. Jacee Casebolt pitched well in relief, allowing two runs on four hits in four innings.

Game 2: Skidmore 8, St. Lawrence 0 (6 innings)

Lindsey Raimondi allowed just four base runners on two hits and two walks in a complete-game shutout to lead the Thoroughbreds in an eight-run-rule shortened game in the nightcap.

Katie Anderson was 3-for-4 with two RBI to lead Skidmore at the plate. Judd was 2-for-2 and Francesca Casillas was 2-for-3.
