Game Recap: Softball |

Saints Swept by Clarkson in First Games Since 2019

Olivia Zoeller threw struck out 14 batters and walked one in a five-inning no hitter in the opener, and Kayla Robert was 5-for-7 with five RBI on the day to lead the Clarkson softball team to a sweep in a non-league doubleheader at St. Lawrence 14-0 and 8-3 on Sunday afternoon.

Sofia Adams was 2-for-3 with a stolen base and two runs scored and McKailey Lyndaker was 2-for-4 in the second game for the Saints.

It was the first game day for the St. Lawrence softball program since the end of the 2019 season, who had their entire 2020 schedule canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"To be able to play games and get back on the field was amazing," said Saints' head coach Elisa VanKirk. "I am so proud of the whole team. We only started practicing as whole group a few weeks ago. The resilience of this team, along with their positive attitude, will make this year very special for all of us. We are so grateful to have the opportunity to play and are looking forward to our games this week."

The Saints will face SUNY Canton in a non-league doubleheader at home at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, and will then face the Roos in a single contest at SUNY Canton on Thursday.
