Kyle Diezel has joined the St. Lawrence University track and field staff as a graduate assistant coach, focusing on the sprint and power events.
A 2019 graduate of Colby-Sawyer College with a bachelor's of science in Exercise & Sports Science, Diezel set program records and was All-New England in the 400-meter run. He was also part of program-record-setting 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400 relays. A two-year captain for both the cross country and track and field teams, he earned All-Conference honors three times and helped the Chargers win three conference titles in track and three more in cross country.
While he was in college, Diezel served as an assistant track and field coach for one year at Mount Saint Joseph Academy in Rutland, and a year later, worked as a strength and conditioning assistant there for a summer.Â
Diezel spent last year as the head junior varsity and assistant varsity football coach at Otter Valley Union High School in Brandon, Vermont.
"We are thrilled to welcome Kyle to the St. Lawrence track and field coaching staff," said Saints' women's track and field coach Kate Howard. "Kyle's tremendous energy and enthusiasm will be great additions to our program both on the track and in our recruiting efforts."
"Kyle will be a great addition to our program as well as the St. Lawrence community," said Saints' women's track and field coach John Newman '94. "His experience in the sprints will play well with our current coaching needs and his ability and history of crossing event groups and bringing all aspects of a track and field team together are also highly valued skills in our program. Coincidentally, he comes to us from a program with a lot of similar values and philosophies having been coached by Lyndsay Ostler '09, so we anticipate a smooth transition into our St. Lawrence team and culture."
