Head coach
Dan Roiger and the St. Lawrence University women's basketball team has announced the addition of four players to the Saints' Class of 2023 to the 2019-20 basketball roster -
Olivia Barringer,
Hattie Childs,
Nicole Jeffrey and
Olivia Middleton will join the Saints in a few weeks as incoming first-year students.
"This is a really nice group of players," said Roiger. "We worked really hard all year to let these players know they were at the top of our list throughout the recruiting season and we were very excited when they committed to us. This is probably the most athletic class I've ever recruited. It is a talented group that adds to the stockpile of skilled, young players on our roster. They are also really good students and people, and will fit in well on the St. Lawrence campus and our roster!"
Barringer and Childs will help the Saints on the inside with their size and rebounding abilities, while Jeffrey can also play the post, is an excellent rebounder, but also able to drive when needed, while Middleton can run the point and also slide over to a shooting guard when necessary. Â
Olivia Barringer — Voorheesville, New York
Barringer was a 1000-point scorer in high school and led her team in scoring the last two years, averaging 20 points and 17 rebounds her senior year. She was a two-time Colonial Council All-Star First-Team and the 18-19 Council MVP. She led her team to the Class B Sectional Championship her junior season. Barringer was also the NHS and Class President at Voorheesville High School.
Coaches Comments: Olivia is an excellent athlete with great length. She has a very competitive nature, understands the game and will contribute very quickly for our team.
Hattie Childs — Easton, Connecticut

Coaches Comments: Hattie is a really good athlete with a nose for the ball. She has a high ceiling because of that and just needs to acquire experience.
Nicole Jeffrey — Norwich, New York
Nicole Jeffrey won a Southern Tier Athletic Conference and a section IV Championship and is also highly decorated in Cross Country and Track, breaking a school record in the 4x800, and was an All-Star All-Division First-Team member in the 4x400 and 4x800. Nicole was an NHS member and Vice-President of both her class and Student Athlete Council and also received the Outstanding Athlete Award.
Coaches Comments: Nicole was our Summer Basketball Camp MVP and is going to surprise people in basketball. She is a great athlete with a motor that never stops.
Olivia Middleton — Barrington, Rhode Island
Olivia appeared twice in the Rhode Island Final Four and was a First-Team All-Class, First-Team All-Division, First-Team All-Tournament and First-Team All-State recipient. She is a 1000-point scorer and also received accolades in soccer (First-Team All-Division) and track where she finished fourth in the long jump and seventh in the triple jump and 4x100. Middleton was named to the academic honor roll at Barrington High School all four years.
Coaches Comments: Olivia is a very skilled basketball player. Her composure is outstanding and she has a high basketball IQ, so she is always aware of what is happening. She will adapt quickly to the college level.
The Saints will open the 2019-20 season at home against St. John Fisher on November 9 at 3 p.m.
