Game Recap: Baseball |

Saints Split Twin Bill with Raptors

Evan O'Keeffe hit an RBI double in the top of the eighth inning to lead the St. Lawrence University baseball team to a 3-2 win over Bard in the opener, but the Saints fell to the Raptors on a walk-off single by Jordan Myers in the nightcap to split a Liberty League doubleheader in Annandale on Hudson on Saturday afternoon.

Taylor Digilio led the Saints, going 4-for-7 with two doubles on the day, while Joe DeGuardia and William Montgomery were also 4-for-7.

St. Lawrence 3, Bard 2 (8 innings)
In a game originally scheduled to last seven innings, the Saints saw leads of 1-0 and 2-1 disappear before finally pulling ahead for good on O'Keeffe's double to right center in the eighth inning, sending Nicholas Butler, who walked in the previous at bat, around to score from first.

Brian Comerford and DeGuardia added RBI hits for the Saints in the fourth and fifth innings, respectively.

Justin Fiume worked a bases loaded walk in the fourth, and Alex Luscher extended the game to the eighth inning with an RBI single in the seventh to lead the Raptors.

Alex Black threw a complete game to earn the victory for the Saints, allowing two runs on five hits with eight strikeouts and five walks. Evan Richardson took the loss for the Raptors, allowing three runs on 12 hits with five strikeouts and three walks. Alex Bunnell came on in relief after Butler's walk in the seventh.

Digilio was 3-for-4 and William Montgomery were both 3-for-4 for the Saints. Comerford and DeGuardia were both 2-for-4, and O'Keeffe was 2-for-5.

Myers went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Raptors.

Bard 3, St. Lawrence 2
The Saints once again had 1-0 and 2-1 leads in the second game, but the Raptors salvaged a split with some seventh-inning heroics. Julian Gonzalez started the inning with a leadoff walk, then advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt. Myers hit a single to center, and Gonzalez scored from second to give Bard the win with its first lead of the day.

O'Keeffe got the Saints on the board in the first inning with an RBI single, but the Raptors tied the score when Esteban Rivera scored on a wild pitch in the second. DeGuardia gave the Saints the lead again with an RBI single in the third, but Bard tied the score in the bottom of the frame on a sacrifice fly by Chris Blake.

Bunnell earned the win, pitching two perfect innings with three strikeouts in relief. Bard started Kyle Zigner allowed two runs on eight hits with five strikeouts and four walks in five innings of work.

Caleb Clarke took the loss, allowing three runs on eight hits with three strikeouts and two walks in 6.1 innings.

DeGaurdia was 2-for-3 for the Saints, while O'Keeffe was 2-for-4. Myers, Rivera and Rory Maglich were all 2-for-3 for the Raptors.
