Prior to St. Lawrence

Butler was a standout three-sport athlete at Maple Hill, played baseball, basketball and soccer...He captained the baseball team and was name the team's Most Valuable Player, and was also named First-Team All-League, All-Section and All-State...Additionally, he was a Times Union Small School First-Team All-Star...Butler also captained the basketball team and was an All-Section honoree and helped the soccer team to two sectional championships and a regional final appearance...He was also an honor roll student all four years.
