Angelina Carney was 6-for-8 with two home runs and five RBI to lead the St. Lawrence University softball team to wins over Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts and the University of Maine-Farmington in Clermont, Florida, on Wednesday.
Carney hit both home runs and drove in all five runs in a 7-5 win in the opener against MCLA and had three hits in both games. Carney's two home runs tie a St. Lawrence single-game record, and the five RBI are tied for third in program history.
Taylor Armijo,
Skylar Hein and
Sofia Adams also had multi-hit efforts in both games, and
McKailey Lyndaker picked up a win and a save in the circle and was 3-for-5 at the plate in the second game for the Saints, who won their sixth straight game to improve to 7-1. The six-game winning streak is the second-longest in program history. St. Lawrence won 10 games in a row in its inaugural season in 2000.
St. Lawrence 7, MCLA 5
Carney's first home run — a three-run blast over the right center field fence — broke a 3-3 tie and gave the Saints the lead for good. She added a solo home run in the fourth to give St. Lawrence a 7-4 lead and also had an RBI single in the bottom of the first.
Erika Quackenbush gave the Trailblazers a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but the Saints scored three in the bottom half of the frame. After Carney's RBI single tied the game, Adams hit a bases loaded blast that was just a foot shy of being a home run to give the Saints a 2-1 lead. Lyndaker drove in the final run of the inning on an RBI groundout.
The Trailblazers came right back to tie the game in the top of the seventh, with Kara Adams hitting an RBI triple, then scoring on a fielder's choice, beating a throw from short to home plate.
MCLA threatened to put together a big inning in after Kara Adams led off with a double and Samantha Fei hit an infield single. Lyndaker, however, retired three of the next four batters, with Adams scoring the lone run on a squeeze play.
The Trailblazers once again put the first two runners on base in the seventh, but Lyndaker retired the next three batters to earn her first career save.
Hein was 3-for-3 for the Saints, while
Sofia Adams was 3-for-4 and Armijo was 2-for-4. Quackenbush led MCLA's offense, going 3-for 4 with a double. Kara Adams was 2-for-4 with a double and a triple, and Kaylyn Holliday was 2-for-4 with a double.
Carolyn Holran played well defensively for the Saints, nailing a runner at second on a stolen base attempt and tagging out a runner at home plate who attempted to score on a pitch in the dirt.
Caroline Young improved to 4-0 in the circle for the Saints, allowing four runs in four innings off six hits and one walk with one strikeout. Lyndaker got her first career save, allowing one run on five hits with three strikeouts and one walk over the final three innings.
Kara Adams took the loss, allowing all seven runs on 10 hits with two walks and two strikeouts in four innings. Samantha Feinstein allowed two hits and one walk with two strikeouts over the final two innings.

St. Lawrence 8, Maine-Farmington 4
Lyndaker was 3-for-5 with a double and a stolen base and allowed three runs (two earned) Â on four hits with four strikeouts and two walks in 4.1 innings of work to lead the Saints over the Beavers.
The Saints once again fell behind early, with Kayleigh Oberg scoring on a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the second.
St. Lawrence, however, responded with three runs in the top of the third to take the lead for good.
Elle Gray beat a throw home on an RBI grounder by Hein, and Adams and Lyndaker added RBI singles to right.
The Saints broke the game open with five runs in the fifth, including runs by Lyndaker and Armijo on double steals. Holran scored on an error, Armijo drove home
Caitlyn Fuss with an RBI double to center, and Hein hit an RBI single to right to account for the other three runs.Â
Oberg hit an RBI double and Haley Holt scored on a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning, and Holt later scored on an error in the seventh to close out the scoring.
Carney posted her third three-hit game of the season, going 3-for-5. Hein was 2-for-5 with two RBI, while Armijo, Gray and Adams were also 2-for-5.
Oberg was 2-for-4 to lead Maine-Farmington.
Caroline Young finished the game in the circle for the Saints, allowing one unearned run on two hits with two strikeouts in the final 2.2 innings.Â
Kailyn Hill went the distance for the Beavers allowing eight runs (six earned) on 15 hits with five strikeouts and one walk.
