Lauryn Best was 4-for-7 with a home run and six RBI to lead the St. Lawrence University softball team to a pair of wins at Hancock Field in Clermont, Florida, on Sunday.

The Saints defeated Trinity 7-2 in their first game of the day, then pounded out 13 hits in a 15-1, five-inning win over SUNY Cobleskill in the nightcap.

Angelina Carney led the Saints with five hits on the day, while Taylor Armijo was 4-for-8 with two doubles and three RBI, and Skylar Hein was 3-for-4 with three RBI.

St. Lawrence 7, Trinity 2

Hein was 2-for-2 with three RBI, and McKailey Lyndaker allowed just two runs in her first career complete game for the Saints in the opener.

The Saints took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a two-run single to right by Hein, but the Bantams tied the score on a two-run home run by Courtney Erickson in the third.

St. Lawrence, however, responded with four runs in the bottom of the frame to take the lead for good. Elle Gray scored on a sacrifice fly by Hein, and Best drilled a line drive to center for her first collegiate hit to score two more runs. Lyndaker drove home the final run of the inning with single to left. All four runs were scored with two outs. Carney added an RBI single in the sixth.

The Saints backed up Lyndaker with solid defense; Hein backhanded a hard line drive at first, Gabby Slater turned a double play at second base to erase a leadoff single in the sixth, and Carolyn Holran, making her first start behind the plate, made a diving play to catch a pop-up in foul territory to end the sixth.

Lyndaker retired the Bantams 1-2-3 in the seventh inning to close out the game; she allowed two runs on eight hits with one strikeout and no walks.

Gray and Carney were both 2-for-3, and Armijo was 2-for-4 for St. Lawrence.

Erickson, Cassidy Schiff and Hannah Zukowski were all 2-for-3 to lead Trinity's offense. Lindsay Pressman took the loss, allowing six runs (five earned) and five hits with two walks and two strikeouts in 2.2 innings. Jordan Stephan closed out the game, allowing one run on six hits with six strikeouts and one walk in 3.1 innings of work.

Records: St. Lawrence (2-1); Trinity (1-1).

St. Lawrence 15, SUNY Cobleskill 1

Best went 3-for-4 with a home run, four RBI and a stolen base as the Saints posted their highest run total since a 17-0 win over Sewanee during last year's spring break trip.

St. Lawrence took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a single by Carney that snuck between the outfielder's legs, allowing Armijo to score from second, and Best hit a solo shot to center in the second to increase the lead to two runs.

The Saints broke the game open with seven runs in the third. Carney hit an RBI double, Best hit an RBI single, the Saints scored three runs on bases loaded walks, and Armijo capped the rally with a two-run double to right center.

St. Lawrence put the game away with six more runs in the fourth inning. Sofia Adams plated another run with a hard shot up the middle that just missed the pitcher, Best added a two-run single, Caitlyn Fuss legged out an infield single on a bunt to score Adams from third, Armijo drove in a run on a groundout, and Gray added an RBI single to left center.

Cobleskill scored its lone run in the fourth inning on a fielder's choice.

Carney was 3-for-4 with two doubles for the Saints, Adams was 2-for-3 with two RBI, and Armijo was 2-for-4 with three RBI and a stolen base.

Gabrielle Danthine went 2-for-2 to lead the Tigers' offense.
