After a national search, Scott Denne has been named the head men's and women's squash coach at St. Lawrence University.

Denne joins the Saints after serving as the assistant squash coach at Cornell University since January 2017.

"I'm very pleased to offer Scott the position as head men's and women's squash coach here at St. Lawrence," Director of Athletics and Recreation Bob Durocher said. "I'm confident that with his experience both as a coach and an accomplished player on the international stage he'll be able to continue to help our teams excel in competition while also developing our student-athletes to be successful in their endeavors after graduation."

Denne brings over 30 years of experience as a professional squash player and coach to St. Lawrence, having played on the Professional Squash Association world tour and competed in international events such as Copa Wadsworth, Lapham Grant, IMAST and the World Masters. He was a singles finalist at U.S. Nationals (30+) in 2000 and again in 2005 (35+), ranked No. 12 on the U.S. men's professional singles tour in 2002 and was half of the ninth-ranked doubles team with partner Mark Eugeni on the ISDA Doubles Tour in 2003.

In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Denne has served as squash director and head squash professional at five different clubs, including stints at the Missouri Athletic Club, MetroSquash Chicago and Buffalo Tennis & Squash Club. He also coached the U.S. Junior National Team from 2001-2005 and was the director of junior development at the Birmingham Athletic Club in 2013-14, where he oversaw the development of more than 110 kids in the program.

"I am very excited to become the new men's and women's head squash coach at St Lawrence University," Denne said. "It has always been a dream of mine to coach my own teams and be able to shape the programs in such a way that makes every single student-athlete's experience one they will remember for the rest of their lives. I am honored to be put in this position at St. Lawrence and am committed to bringing excitement and continued success in the squash programs going forward, as well as being part of a great community of people in Canton, New York."

Denne is a Level 1 certified U.S. Squash coach and has been a member of U.S. Squash since 1999. He is a Squash Professional Association (SPA) certified professional and is also a Level 2 certified coach by the Australian Coaching Council.

Denne's anticipated start date is January 2019. The Saints men's and women's teams resume play on January 11.
