Four different players had goals as the St. Lawrence University Men's Lacrosse team scored five of the final six goals of the game to post a come-from-behind 16-12 victory over Amherst College Wednesday afternoon on North Country Field at Hall-Leet Stadium. The Saints earned a spot in the NCAA Division III Tournament semifinals for the first time since 1979 with the victory and will play Tufts University Sunday afternoon in Medford, Massachusetts.

Trailing 9-6 early in the third quarter, Jeremy Vautour scored a man-up goal that sparked a St. Lawrence (18-2) rally for five of the last six goals in the third quarter leading the Saints to an 11-10 lead with 15 minutes left to play. The goal was the 59th of the season for Vautour which tied him for the school record for goals in a season with Scott Fetterolf who had 59 goals in 1979.

Amherst (14-5), who had beaten Liberty League opponents RPI and RIT to advance to the quarterfinal game against St. Lawrence, scored the first goal of the final quarter to pull even at 11-11 with 12:49 left on the clock.

Just over a minute later, Austin Nadeau scored to give the Saints the lead for good sparking a four-goal run as Charlie Duprey, Connor Brimley and Jordan Dow each scored over the next 10 minutes to lift the St. Lawrence lead to 15-11.

Amherst added a late goal and Dow scored for the Saints with 39 seconds left to cap the scoring.

The Saints started fast for the third consecutive game with a goal in the first minute of action. After losing the opening faceoff, the Saints forced a turnover and moved the ball up the field with a long pass and Alec Dietsch found Mackey Lynch in front of the Amherst goal and Lynch scored his second goal of the season to put St. Lawrence on top early.

The teams traded goals for a majority of the first half as Conor Healey scored a goal in each of the first two quarters and Vautour scored his first of two goals midway through the second period. Jamie Kuppel and Brett McCormack scored back-to-back goals within a minute of each other late in the second quarter to even the score at 6-6 as the teams entered the halftime break.

Amherst scored the first three goals of the second half in a span of 53 seconds to take the 9-6 lead before St. Lawrence mounted its comeback.

Healey led the balanced St. Lawrence scoring with four points on two goals and two assists. His two assists give him 100 for his career and coupled with his 108 career goals makes him just the fifth player in St. Lawrence history to record at least 100 goals and 100 assists. His 208 career points moves him into seventh place on the all-time career scoring list.
