Men’s Lacrosse Wraps Up Regular Season with a Win over Skidmore

enior Jeremy Vautour and sophomore Jordan Dow scored three goals each leading the St. Lawrence University Men's Lacrosse team to a 22-14 victory over Skidmore College Saturday afternoon in a Liberty League game on North Country Field at Hall-Leet Stadium in Canton.

The win was number 15 on the season for St. Lawrence (15-1 Overall, 6-1 Liberty League) which is a new school record for regular-season NCAA wins. The Saints had already secured the No. 2 position in the Liberty League Tournament and will face RPI at 4 pm Friday on North Country Field in one of the tournament semifinal games. Union, who defeated Vassar Saturday, will be the No. 4 seed and will travel to top-seeded RIT Friday in the other semifinal matchup. The winners will play at the highest remaining seed at Noon Sunday.

Against Skidmore (5-11, 1-6), the Saints scored early and often running up a 9-1 lead after the first 15 minutes of action.

Dow opened the scoring 1J1 into the game and Conor Healey scored 42 seconds later for the Saints. Vautour scored the next two goals in a span of 1:34 for a 4-0 lead.

Dow scored his second of the game at 6:48 and then Jamie DeNicola scored seven seconds later off a quick face off win for a 6-0 advantage.

The Thoroughbreds scored their first at the 4:09 mark but the Saints added three kore goals in the final 1:26 of the quarter as Brett McCormack, Vautour and Jon Fairbanks each scored for St. Lawrence.

Healey scored 1:47 into the second quarter for his 100th career goal as he took a pass from Dow and scored on a diving shot into the lower corner for a 10-1 St. Lawrence lead.

Dow added two more goals in the quarter and Vautour scored his fourth of the game while Gardner Imhoff also scored as the Saints ran up a 14-3 lead at the halftime intermission.

Charlie Duprey scored to start the third quarter and Andrew Jarrett added a pair of goals to give St. Lawrence a 17-4 lead before Skidmore scored the final four goals of the period to trim the lead to 17-8 as the teams entered the fourth quarter.

Alec Dietsch scored 13 seconds into the final period after posting the face off victory before Connor Brimley, DeNicola, Jarrett and Steven Peterson each scored in the final 15 minutes to round out the scoring for the Saints.

Vautour and Dow each recorded six points on four goals and two assists to lead the Saints. Healey had four points with a pair of goals and two assists while Jarrett finished with three goals and Dietsch had a goal and two assists for three points. Dietsch also won 14-of-19 face offs and led the team with nine ground balls.
