Tommy Hovey Scores Three as Men’s Lacrosse Routs Bard

Tommy Hovey and Jordan Dow scored three goals and added two assists each leading the St. Lawrence University Men's Lacrosse team in scoring as the Saints pounded Bard 18-3 Saturday afternoon in a Liberty League game played on Weeks Field at Leckonby Stadium in Canton.

The Saints (7-5 Overall, 4-0 Liberty League) scored four goals in each of the first two quarters and took an 11-2 lead after three quarters of play before scoring seven times in the final quarter to break the game open.

Eleven different players scored goals for the Saints with Dow and Hovey leading the way with three each. Jeremy Vautour, Jamie DeNicola and Cal Hynson each scored twice for St. Lawrence.

Charlie Duprey scored the first goal of the game for the Saints 4:43 into the contest and Bard (3-8, 1-4) knotted the game at 1-1 just less than three minutes later. Dow scored one, Vautour and Hovey scored two each as St. Lawrence put together a 9-0 run for the commanding 10-1 lead. Conor Healey, Luke DiLisio, Charlie Jennings and Jon Fairbanks also scored goals in the run.

After Mat Livermore scored his second of the game for Bard to stop the run late in the third quarter, St. Lawrence finished with a pair of four-goal runs for the final score. Dow, Hynson and DeNicola had two goals each in the final eight goals for the Saints. Connor Brimley also scored for the saints down the stretch.

Healey had three assists while Dow, Hovey and Vautour had two assists each to pace the Saints. Healey had a team-leading seven groundballs while Alec Dietsch picked up six groundballs and won nine of his 12 face-offs. Joe Nickerson was also 6-of-8 in face-offs and had five groundballs.

Andrew Butturini started in the St. Lawrence goal and made four saves. Nick Ford started the second half making two saves and Pat Sullivan finished the game and made two saves.
