Game Notes
  • The St. Lawrence University football team returns home to Weeks Field at Leckonby Stadium on Friday, September 11 at 7 p.m., hosting St. John Fisher in the Saints' home opener.
  • St. Lawrence enters the contest 1-0 after a 18-10 win over Norwich in the Hoffman Cup, extending its streak of Hoffman Cup victories to six straight years dating back to 2021.
  • Aidan Morris was near-perfect on field goal attempts in the season opener, connecting on three kicks including a 40-yarder in the fourth quarter that helped seal the win. Quarterback Sean Miles accounted for the Saints' only touchdown of the night on a short rushing score before halftime.
  • Also on specials, Rory McGuire punted seven times, reaching the Norwich red zone on five of those attempts. He also placed three inside the five, and had a game-high of 49 yards.
  • Cole Phelan was the top offensive weapon in the opener, hauling in nine catches for 109 yards.
  • Caeden Perreault paced the ground game with 107 yards on 16 carries as St. Lawrence out-rushed Norwich 156-17.
  • Jack Finnegan recovered a fumble and returned a punt 35 yards to set up the Saints' first touchdown. Drew Lazcano led the team with six tackles, a forced fumble and a pass breakup.
  • Brennan Twombly and Zach Brown each came up with fumble recoveries late to help St. Lawrence hold off a Norwich rally. Jack Johnson blocked a punt in the third quarter, with Luke Robillard recovering to set up good field position.
  • St. Lawrence converted three of five red-zone chances into points in the opener and will look to carry that momentum into its first home game of the season under the lights against St. John Fisher.
  • Finnegan also leads the Liberty League in punt returns, posting an average runback of 22 yards per carry, a full seven yards ahead of his closest Liberty League competitor.
  • Phelan's aforementioned 109 receiving yards is also among the best among qualified Liberty League receivers in the non-conference portion of the season, ranking second in the conference.
