Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Davenport Picks up Second Clean Sheet; Women's Soccer Ties at Hartwick

Senior goalkeeper Zoe Davenport earned her second clean sheet of the season, but the Saints were unable to find the back of the net as the St. Lawrence University women's soccer team settled for a 0-0 tie with Hartwick on Wednesday night at Elmore Field in Oneonta, N.Y.

St. Lawrence moved to 1-1-3 on the year, while Hartwick went to 0-3-2.

The Scarlet and Brown came out and attacked the Hawks' goal in the first six minutes of the game as Paige McLaughlin found some room to shoot. Her shot was stopped by Kelsey Bollen to keep the score at 0-0 in the early going.

The only other shot from either team in the first half came from Maddie Needham in the 15th minute for the Saints. Her strike to the left post was stopped, however, by Bollen.

The Scarlet and Brown continued hunting for a goal in the second half with chances from Lily Murphy, Kelsey Ackerman, and Madeline Johnson in the first 25 minutes of play.

Murphy's shot sailed high over the goal, while Ackerman and Johnson each put low shots on frame that were snared by the keeper.

The pressure led to six corner kicks for the Saints in the second half, and none for the Hawks.

St. Lawrence was able to get one more chance to get a game-winner in the 84th minute, but Needham's shot went off target. The ensuing corner kick saw a long cross fall to the far post, but the Saints' player was unable to connect, and the game went to 0-0 after 90 minutes.

Davenport's second clean sheet of the season came without a save as Hartwick was unable to get a shot on the Saints' net, while Bollen made four saves in the home net.

St. Lawrence had the advantage in shots (6-0), shots on goal (4-0), and corner kicks (7-0) in the tie.

The Scarlet and Brown will head back north and will be back within the friendly confines of Sandy MacAllaster Field on Saturday, September 19, when the team hosts Oswego State in a high noon non-conference match.
