Junior Avery Blanchard, senior Quinn Sirgany, and senior Carly Zack have each been named St. Lawrence University women's cross country team captains as the group gears up for its 2026 season, Saints head coach Kate Howard announced Tuesday morning. 

Blanchard, a native of Ticonderoga, N.Y., has made appearances at the NCAA championships in both her years as a Saint following productive underclass seasons. She earned All-Liberty League distinctipn in each of her first two seasons at the conference level, garnering first-team honors in 2025 with a sixth overall finish at the championship meet, and making the second team in 2024 by finishing ninth.

Sirgany, a native of Binghamton, N.Y., made a massive improvement on her Liberty League ranking in 2025, placing 10th overall for All-Liberty League honors for the first time in her career as a junior. She set her six-kilometer personal record at the Paul Short Run in 2025; an event the Saints will return to in 2026. Sirgany ran for 22:36.8 at the meet. 

Zack, a native of Lancaster, N.Y., rounds out the captains for the Saints in 2026. Zack brings national-level experience to the leadership group of the Scarlet and Brown, having competed at the NCAA championships in 2023 as part of the Saints' at-large team bid to the national meet.

The Saints kick off their season Saturday, September 5 down the road in Plattsburgh, N.Y. at the Cardinal Classic five-kilometer race.
