Bennett Stout led the way for the Saints, going 2-0 on the day as the St. Lawrence University men's tennis team defeated Huntingdon 7-0 on Wednesday evening at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
The Scarlet and Brown improved to 3-6, while Huntingdon fell to 2-7 in their Florida finale.
In doubles, the Saints snagged a pair of wins to take the 1-0 lead. At one,
Jake David and
Josh David teamed up to beat Lincoln Young and William Massey 6-1, while Stout and
Charles Schepens took on Tyler Garcia and Clayton Philley and won 7-5 at two.
Stout occupied the number one spot in singles play as well, taking a 6-0, 6-2 win over Massey.
The rest of the lineup featured Saints that didn't take part in doubles, and they went 5-0.
Rowan Bepler took on Garcia at two and won 6-0, 6-1; meanwhile,
Preston Mcarthy downed Young 3-6, 6-2, 10-8 at three.
MJ Chaho made quick work of Zach Cox at four taking a 6-2, 6-1 win, while
Will de Chabert-Ostland had similar success with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Sage Speer. In the final match,
Sonny Mo lined up against Philley and took the 6-2, 6-0 victory.
St. Lawrence will wrap up their Spring Break trip to Florida tomorrow when the team takes on Luther College at 10:30 a.m.
