Zoe Rogan tallied a goal and two assists, while five different Saints found the back of the net as the St. Lawrence University women's soccer team rolled to a 5-0 Laurentian Weekend victory over Bard on Saturday afternoon at Sandy MacAllaster Field.
St. Lawrence improved to 4-2-4 overall and 1-0-1 in Liberty League play, while Bard fell to 1-6-1 overall and 0-4-0 in conference action.
The Saints wasted little time getting on the board, controlling possessions from the outset and earning three corner kicks in the opening four minutes of play.
The breakthrough came in the ninth minute when
Kiki D'Anza came running down the right wing, before firing a shot that deflected off a defender and in for the 1-0 lead.
St. Lawrence doubled its advantage just over six minutes later. Rogan possessed the ball just outside the box and fired a pass down the left wing to
Sydney Keenan, who crossed the ball into
Barrett Freeman in the box. The senior settled the pass and beat the goalkeeper for the 2-0 advantage.
The Saints continued to press and struck again in the 21st minute off a corner kick. Rogan lined up for the set piece and fired a long ball into the Bard box. The ball found
Gwyn McGee, who headed the ball home for her first career goal to extend the lead to 3-0.
St. Lawrence carried that three-goal advantage into halftime after outshooting Bard 12-1 and earning six corner kicks in the opening 45 minutes.
The Saints remained on the front foot throughout the second half and added another goal in the 65th minute.
Kelsey Ackerman got the play started with a through-ball ahead to
Madeline Johnson. The first-year player beat the last defender and beat the keeper to extend the lead.
Rogan capped the scoring in the 85th minute, finishing a feed from
Sofia Manne for her fifth goal of the season and a 5-0 advantage.
Zoe Davenport earned the shutout for the Saints, making one save. Bard goalkeepers Thayden Hamilton-Howard and Julianna LaFond combined for six saves.
St. Lawrence finished with commanding advantages in shots (24-3), shots on goal (11-1), and corner kicks (8-0).
The Saints will continue Liberty League play next Saturday when the team heads to Poughkeepsie, N.Y., to take on Vassar in a 1 p.m. matchup.
