Donahue Scores Early, Women's Soccer Draws at Hamilton in Final Non-Conference Match

Meredith Donahue scored her second goal of the season less than nine minutes into the Sunday match, but the St. Lawrence University women's soccer team settled for a 1-1 draw against Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y.

St. Lawrence saw their overall record move to 4-3-3, while Hamilton went to 3-3-3.

The Saints struck first when Donahue capitalized on a turnover. Sydney Keenan stole the ball around the midfield line and sent a pass up to Donahue. The senior ended up scorching a ball to the left side of the woodwork and in to take the early lead.

Both teams had five shots on goal the rest of the way in the first half, but the goalkeepers stood tall in their respective goals.

Hamilton responded early in the second half, as Jess Yee sent a shot home from Ryan Manning in the 50th minute to even the score.

The Continentals got four more chances off in the next 11 minutes, but the Saints' back line blocked all four bids.

Chloe Bourque had two shots in the second half for the Scarlet and Brown, but neither her nor Hamilton could score as the game went to a final.

Hamilton held a 16-9 edge in shot attempts, but the teams were tied with seven shots on frame.

Reagan Murphy, who was making her second career start in goal, made a career-high six saves in the contest for the Saints. Nieve Tonna made four saves for Hamilton in the first half on five shots, while Olivia Connolly came in at the half and stopped both Bourque shots.

With non-conference play in the rear view mirror, the Scarlet and Brown will begin their eight-game stretch run of Liberty League contests to end the regular season. The team will head to Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y., next Saturday, October 4, for a 3 p.m. match against Bard.
