Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Drops 1-0 Match Against Hartford

The St. Lawrence University women's soccer team outshot its opponent 6-3 on the day, but ultimately fell 1-0 against Hartford on Sunday afternoon at Sandy MacAllaster Field after seeing a 28th-minute goal find twine.

The Saints fell to 0-1-1 on the season, while the Hawks improved to 1-0-0.

St. Lawrence came out of the blocks on the right side of the ball, getting good looks early in the contest. In the 7th-minute, Madison King-Thurber had her shot turned aside, then in the 8th, Sofia Manne had a low shot that was snared by Sejal Johnson to keep the score at 0-0.

The Scarlet and Brown kept peppering the Hartford goal through the 24-minute mark, but the Hawks ended up breaking the score in the 28th-minute.

Hartford's Angela Chavez put a free kick on the goal from outside the box, but Zoe Davenport was there to make the save. The ball bounced onto the foot of Cameryn Wilkinson, however, and she buried her shot to take the 1-0 lead.

Manne was able to get another chance on the woodwork, but the chance was saved as the game went to halftime.

Meredith Donahue was in attack mode in the second half, looking for an equalizer, but had both of her chances stymied. Lily Stone and Kylie Burnett also had looks at the Hartford netminder, but saw their shots sail wide.

Kaitlyn Barton had the final look in the last six minutes but couldn't find the twine as the game hit 90 minutes.

St. Lawrence outshot Hartford 13-9 in the contest and held a 6-3 edge in shots on goal. The Saints also had a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Davenport made two saves in the game, while Johnson stopped six for the Hawks.

The Scarlet and Brown will head to the road for their next contest of the 2025 season. The Saints will head to Rochester on Wednesday, September 3, for a 7 p.m. kickoff against the Yellow Jackets.
