The 2025 St. Lawrence University baseball season was a rainy one that would've seen them in the Liberty League crossover series against Hobart to finish off the year if not for inclement weather.
The Saints concluded their season with an overall record of 11-23, a conference mark of 6-11, and a divisional record of 5-10.
The Scarlet and Brown began their season back in March, where the team earned a pair of splits against Westfield State and Purchase before taking their Spring Break trip to Orlando, Florida, to participate in the Russmatt Invitational. St. Lawrence bookmarked the trip with an opening 3-2 win over the University of Southern Maine and a closing 7-4 win against Hamilton before heading north.
The team jumped right into Liberty League play upon reaching the tarmac, losing their first league series at Ithaca in snowy conditions. A trip to RIT was next on the schedule, where they took game one 4-0 before dropping the next two contests.
The Saints finally played their first games on Tom Fay Field at the beginning of April, beating Rochester in a doubleheader 2-1 and 6-1 before game three was postponed for rain.
A series loss to Trinity at home gave way to a road split in a doubleheader at Vassar, then a high-scoring 26-13 loss at Plattsburgh State.
St. Lawrence bounced back nicely in league play, taking two out of three against the Statesmen at Tom Fay Field. After a game one loss, the Saints took a pair of 7-3 wins to take the series.
The Saints picked up a win against Castleton before losing to Plattsburgh again to close out non-conference action. A season-defining series against Clarkson was to follow, but the team was unable to pick up crucial wins in the late-April three-game set.
St. Lawrence had a chance at a playoff spot going into their makeup game against Rochester, but a loss and results around the league took them out of a playoff spot. The team was set to take on Hobart in the crossover series to end the campaign, but the rain-filled Spring reared its ugly head, ending the season prematurely.
Senior outfielder
Daniel Verrastro led the team with a .325 batting average on the year, while
Brett Federico had a team-high 22 runs and 34 hits in his final season in Scarlet and Brown. Cleanup hitter
John Gannon brought in the most runs with 22 RBI.
Thrust into a bigger role due to injuries, Canton's own
David Zuhlsdorf took command of the rotation, starting seven games as the Saints' number one. The southpaw had a 1-4 mark, but posted a 4.66 ERA, a 1.37 WHIP, and led the team with 37 strikeouts.
Fellow lefty,
Boden Driscoll also got significant time in the rotation, pitching a team-high 39.1 innings, with a 2-3 record, a 5.25 ERA, and a 1.47 WHIP.
