The No. 12 St. Lawrence University men's lacrosse team is set to faceoff against No. 19 Middlebury in the second round of the 2025 NCAA Tournament tomorrow afternoon at Tufts University in Medford, Mass. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
The Saints received an at-large bid after falling to RIT 11-10 in the Liberty League Championship game on Sunday. The at-large selection put the Scarlet and Brown in the NCAA Tournament for the 15th time in program history and the fifth time since 2016.
Middlebury made an appearance in the NESCAC Tournament, claiming a 10-8 victory over fourth-seeded Amherst in quarterfinal action. The Panthers also earned an at-large bid after falling to top-seeded Tufts in the semifinals.
"We had a great battle against Middlebury the first time around, and we know that it will take our best effort against them Saturday to advance," said head coach Mike Mahoney following the selection show on Sunday evening.
St. Lawrence and Middlebury played for the 21st time earlier this spring. The Saints broke the series deadlock by claiming their 11th win in a snowy 7-6 victory. The programs have played just once in the NCAA Tournament, with the Panthers earning a 15-11 win in 2009.
The 38-team tournament began with six first-round games on Wednesday, followed by 16 second-round games on Saturday.
The winner of the game between Middlebury and St. Lawrence will play either Tufts (18-0) or Rhodes College (14-4) in the third round Sunday at 3 p.m.at Bello Field.
