Strong play from
Edvin Strandberg highlighted the St. Lawrence University men's team as they fell to Ithaca 6-1 Sunday afternoon in Ithaca N.Y.
The Saints fall to 7-11 overall, and 1-4 in the Liberty League, while the Bombers rise to 5-6 and 3-1 in conference play.
Strandberg and
John Hill-Edgar, who played number one, took down Gijs Fidler and Desai Siddharth 6-3 in doubles play to kick things off for the Saints. This would be the only Saints tandem to win their match, as the Bombers won in the second and third spots to earn the match's first point.
For singles, Strandberg led off with a tight match against Fidler in the one spot as they split the first two sets. Strandberg would claim the tie-breaking set 11-9 to pick up his second win on the day and give the Scarlet and Brown their first point of the match.
The Bombers would proceed to win the remaining singles matches, as
Armaan Walia and
Aidan Baracao both pushed their matches to three sets, as Ithaca claimed the 6-1 win on the day.
SLU will face Union at the Newell Field House in Canton, N.Y. for their conference play matchup on Saturday April 12
