Caroline Hamilton and
Jessica LaPlaca scored two goals each, but the St. Lawrence University women's lacrosse team fell to Union 13-6 on Saturday afternoon at North Country Field.
Following today's game, the Saints honored the seven members of the Class of 2025 for senior day –
Ella Brown,
Ellie Camp,
Brigette Gable,
Hannah Kelly,
Suzy L'Hommedieu,
Neve Ley, and
Haley Sundstrom.
Cate Rathnam and
Kelsey Roth also scored for the Scarlet and Brown, while LaPlaca, Ley and
Phoebe Spaeth added an assist. Hamilton picked up a team-best four ground balls, while Gable picked up three and caused three turnovers. Sundstrom also finished with three caused turnovers and two ground balls.
The Garnet Chargers got off to a speedy start, shutting out the Saints in the first quarter, 4-0.
Hamilton scored her first of the game to open scoring in the second, but after trading goals back and forth with Union, the Garnet Chargers scored three straight to build an 8-2 lead at halftime.
Both teams scored three goals apiece in the third, as Union held onto their six-goal lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Stella Del Papa and Maddy Schiller found the back of the net for Union in the first part of the final frame and Rathnam tallied the final goal of the game with 10 minutes to play, but the Garnet Chargers were able to hold onto their lead for the win. Â
Gillian Joseph led the Garnet Chargers with five goals and an assist.
Zoe Froimovitz stopped 11 shots for the Saints, while Sydney Widlitz made 12 for Union.
St. Lawrence fell to 6-8 overall and 4-4 in Liberty League play, while Union improved to 10-3 and 6-3, respectively.
The Saints will wrap up their four-game home stand when they host Clarkson on Wednesday, April 23 at 4 p.m. at North Country Field.
