Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Flynn Leads Saints to 69-50 Victory in Season Opener at SUNY Potsdam

Elizabeth Flynn led the St. Lawrence University women's basketball team with a double-double, adding both 15 points and rebounds, as the Saints began the 2025-26 season with a 69-50 victory over SUNY Potsdam on Saturday evening at Jerry Welsh Gymnasium.

The Saints move to 1-0 overall, while the Bears drop to 0–2.

The Saints started fast, building up a nine-point lead at the end of the first. Norah Niesz and Jackie Malley each knocked down three-pointers as St. Lawrence built a 23-14 advantage after the opening quarter. Elizabeth Flynn powered the effort inside with early baskets and strong rebounding.

St. Lawrence continued to extend its lead before halftime, outscoring the Bears 20-9 in the frame. Annie Perry's sharp shooting and Flynn's interior presence pushed the margin to 43-23 at the break. The Saints' defense forced eight Potsdam turnovers in the quarter and turned them into several fast-break points.

The Saints maintained control through the third, keeping Potsdam at bay with balanced scoring from multiple players. Perry hit from deep, and Niesz added a jumper to help St. Lawrence stay in front 59-32 heading into the final period.

Potsdam put together its best offensive stretch late, scoring 18 in the fourth, but the Saints' early cushion proved more than enough as they closed out the 19-point win.

In addition to Flynn's double-double, Perry and Niesz each scored 12 points. Malley added 9 points on three three-pointers. St. Lawrence shot 24-69 from the field, 8-25 from three, and held a 50-37 rebounding advantage.

St. Lawrence remains on the road next week, as they head to Oswego State on Tuesday, November 11 for a game against the Lakers. Tip off is set for 5 p.m.
