Saints Celebrate Senior Day with 37-17 Win Over Rochester

With five touchdowns, a season-high 495 yards on offense and lock down defense, the St. Lawrence University football team cruised to a 37-17 win over the University of Rochester, capping the 2025 season with a senior day victory on Saturday afternoon at Leckonby Stadium.

Will Lederman passed 23-for-30 for a career-best 349 yards and ran for 109 to record two touchdowns. His 458 yards broke the single-game record, previously held by Tyler Grochot with 448 against Norwich in 2018. Fellow senior Nicholas Huhtala recorded a career-high 15 catches for 176 yards, while Shea Goodwin had four catches for 78. On defense, Savino Morelli logged nine tackles, including one for the loss, while Ryan Surhoff finished with eight and a breakup. Pat Ryan and Brennan Twombley and Pat Ryan each broke up a pass and finished with seven and six tackles, respectively. Fogler finished with 335 yards on kickoffs, went 4-for-5 on extra points and landed a 45-yard field goal.

The teams traded field goals to start things off, the first was a 21-yarder from Rochester's Seungyoon Shin at 8:14 and the second was a 45-yard field goal from Clayton Fogler at 5:06, to keep the game tied 3-3 at the end of the first quarter.

Starting off the second, the Saints pulled a trick play on a fake field goal attempt and special teams shined as Fogler connected with Surhoff in the end zone for a 9-3 lead.

With just nine seconds to play in the second quarter, Lederman capped a 95-yard drive with a 14-yard touchdown pass to Huhtala to make it 16-3 before the break.

The Yellowjackets pushed back to start the third, as Cole Raux finished off the Rochester drive with a one-yard run, bringing the scoreboard to 16-10.

Less than three minutes later, Lederman found Matt Ciesielski streaking down the home sideline on a 54-yard touchdown pass to give the Saints a bit of a buffer and a 23-10 lead. Rochester answered once again, with a 10-yard pass from Shawn Bellenger to end the third quarter 23-17.

Lederman scored his second touchdown of the game on a 25-yard run, to finish off the Saints' 68-yard drive with 14:43 to play in the fourth. Lederman went for his third touchdown with 5:27, but the fumble would land in the hands of Joseph Silver, who recovered the ball in the end zone to make the final 37-17.

Rochester pushed hard with five minutes to play in the final frame, but senior Derik Nelson recorded his first career interception at the one-yard line to keep the Yellowjackets off the scoreboard in the fourth. The Saints pulled a second trick play, as Matt Kowalski went for the short pass to Joe Silver following a Rochester timeout to end the game.

Bellenger threw for 245 yards, while Raux ran for 95 yards on 19 attempts and Aidan Papantonis recorded 10 catches for 139 yards. Daniel Santos led the defense with 10 tackles.

St. Lawrence finished with a 26-23 edge in first downs, recorded 495 yards on offense for a season-best, converted on 5-of-9 third-down opportunities and went 1-for-1 on fourth downs and a perfect 3-for-3 in the red zone.

The Saints closed out the season at 4-6 overall and 3-4 in Liberty League play, while Rochester wrapped things up at 5-5 and 2-5, respectively.
