Sydney LeClair scored her third goal in as many games, but the St. Lawrence University field hockey team fell 5-1 to Vassar on Saturday afternoon at Weinberg Field.
LeClair's tally came with just over a minute remaining in regulation, set up by Maja Helmer for her seventh goal of the season. The Saints mounted a late surge with six fourth-quarter shots and three penalty corners.
Lily Gubbins led St. Lawrence with two shots on goal, while LeClair added another. Goalkeeper Elizabeth Walsh turned aside 11 shots to anchor the defense against Vassar's 16 shots on target.
The Brewers built a 3-0 halftime lead and added two more in the fourth quarter to pull away. St. Lawrence moved to 4-9 overall and 1-6 in the Liberty League, while Vassar improved to 9-6 and 4-2.
