Saints Record Third Win in a Row with Straight Set Triumph over Bard

Vanessa Latam had a complete effort with eight kills, 21 assists and 10 digs and Araiza Acum-Santos tallied a team-high nine kills as the St. Lawrence University volleyball team swept Bard 3–0 (25–19, 25–14, 25–23) on Friday evening.

It marked the Saints' first Liberty League straight-set victory of the season. With the win, St. Lawrence improves to 2–3 in conference play and extends its win streak to three.

"We started off very sloppy with our serving and our whole first set was filled with unforced errors, but our blocking allowed us to sneak out a first set victory," said Saints head coach Shelly Roiger. "We improved in the first contact as the match went along, but we will definitely need to be better in this area tomorrow against a very talented Ithaca squad."

The opening set was tightly contested until the Saints put together a four-point run to take a 19–12 lead. During the stretch, Vanessa Latam notched a kill and teamed up with Audrey Bibbins for a block. Bard responded with two points late, but a kill from Acum-Santos sealed the 25–19 victory.

Building on that momentum, St. Lawrence opened the second set with another four-point burst to go up 7–3. The Raptors rallied to a 10–9 advantage after a few Saint errors, but St. Lawrence answered with an eight-point surge to reclaim control at 22–13. The Saints surrendered just one more point, cruising to a 25–14 win.

In the third set, the Saints overcame an early 7–6 deficit to build a 19–10 lead. Bard battled back, cutting the gap and eventually taking a 23–22 edge. With their backs against the wall, the Scarlet and Brown stayed composed, winning the final three points to complete the sweep.

St. Lawrence travels to Ithaca College on Saturday for another Liberty League matchup at 2 p.m. The Saints have three league series remaining as they continue their push for a postseason berth.
