The St. Lawrence University men's basketball team fell 64-46 on the road to the Liberty League leading Ithaca Bombers Saturday in Ithaca, N.Y.
With the two losses on the weekend, the Saints fall to 9-5 overall with a 3-5 mark in the Liberty League.
St. Lawrence found themselves in a hole early with a 14-0 run from Ithaca to make the game 19-4 prior to the eight-minute mark. However, an 8-0 run from the Saints brought the lead down to seven with nine minutes left in the first half. After this though, Ithaca got back out in front by double digits and the stingy defense from the Bombers held the Saints in check. The Ithaca lead was 33-19 at halftime with
Dan Anderson leading the Saints with five points at the half.
In the second half, the Bombers continued to surge offensively and the Saints found themselves down by 20 just three minutes in. At the 13-minute mark,
Chris Downs Jr. got a hoop and drew a foul to get the Saints to within 16, 47-31, but Ithaca quickly got their lead beyond 20 once again and the Saints fell by a margin of 18.
Anderson led the Saints with the 10 points off the bench with Downs Jr. and
Andrew Cowan right behind him with eight points each. Downs Jr. also led St. Lawrence with six rebounds and Aiden Macauley had four assists.
The Saints will next be in action on Friday, January 24 as they will take on Hobart at the home of the Statesmen in Geneva, N.Y.
