Judge Murphy tallied four goals, while
Daniel Mahoney added three, but the fifth-ranked St. Lawrence University men's lacrosse team fell to second-ranked RIT, 12-9, on senior day Saturday afternoon at Hall-Leet Stadium.

With the goals from Murphy and Mahoney, both
Ben Hutchinson and
David Herlihy each tallied a goal and an assist.
Bobby Wells and
Cam Croasdaile each finished with a pair of assists,
Paddy Condon finished with an assist, a team-best nine ground balls and went 10-for-23 at the faceoff dot.
Charlie Miele tallied four ground balls and two caused turnovers, while
Tripp Clark added five caused turnovers and
Lucas Podvey picked up three ground balls.

The majority of the first frame was a battle of the goaltenders, as the game opened with a scoreless 12 minutes. RIT was able to break through first and two goals gave them a 2-0 advantage after the first quarter.

The Tigers tallied the first two goals of the second, but the Saints responded with two of their own from Murphy and Herlihy to close the gap back to two. RIT added two more and Hutchinson capped the scoring in the second quarter with his 38th of the season on the man-up.

RIT held a 6-3 lead at the break.

The Tigers outscored St. Lawrence 4-1 in the third quarter to build a 10-4 lead heading into the final frame.

The Saints rallied hard, scoring the first three goals to bring the game back within three at 10-7. A shift of momentum led to two more goals for the Tigers and another five-goal spread at 12-7. Wells and Mahoney connected on back-to-back tallies to close the game.

"I thought today's game was two teams that competed hard over 60 minutes," said head coach
Mike Mahoney. "Credit to RIT for making the plays that swung things in their favor, but I was pleased with how we stuck with it and we will learn from this moving forward."
Clifford Gaston and Kaden Brunson each recorded three goals for the Tigers, while Allyn French picked up five ground balls and went 14-for-24 at the faceoff dot.
Micheal Marinello stopped 16 shots for the Saints, while Alex Zborowski made 17 for the Tigers.
SLU outshot RIT 52-43, but the Tigers held a 28-26 edge in shots on goal. RIT also picked up 31 ground balls to the Saints' 28. The Tigers were also able to convert on 3-of-5 extra-man opportunities, while the Saints went 1-for-2.
St. Lawrence fell to 13-2 overall and 5-1 in league play, while RIT improved to 15-1 and 5-1, respectively.
The Saints will head to RPI for their final game of the regular season on Saturday, April 27. Game time in Troy is scheduled for 12 p.m.
