Ben Hutchinson recorded six goals and an assist to lead the fourth-ranked St. Lawrence University men's lacrosse team to a 14-6 win over Skidmore in Liberty League action on Sunday afternoon in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
Judge Murphy tallied three goals and two assists, while
Brian Souza and
Zack Corsi finished with one of each.
Paddy Condon,
Cam Croasdaile, and
Carter Flanagan all notched one goal for the Scarlet and Brown. Condon also led the Saints with eight ground balls and finished 13-for-19 from the faceoff circle, while
Charlie Miele picked up five and caused one turnover.
A back-and-forth battle to start, with goals from Croasdaile and Souza for the Saints and a pair of goals from Skidmore's Brian Gonsalves made it a 2-2 game after the first quarter of play.
Hutchinson scored on the man-up just 42 seconds into the second quarter to put the Saints up 3-2, before Gonsalves scored his third of the game to tie it back up. Two goals from Hutchinson, along with goals from Murphy and Condon gave the Saints a 7-3 advantage by halftime.
Gonsalves scored again to start the third, but five straight goals from the Saints that spanned the rest of the third and started off the forth, capped by a goal from Corsi, put the Scarlet and Brown up 12-4.
Skidmore added two more goals, but the Saints finished off the scoring with goals from Hutchinson and Flanagan to seal their ninth straight win.
"It's been a long but productive week," said head coach
Mike Mahoney. "We had some great experiences to build on as a team both on and off the field, and it was nice to cap it off with a conference win!"

Gonsalves led the Thoroughbreds with four goals and an assist, while Marty McFadden and Jude Avelino Jr. picked up four ground balls.

Michael Marinello made 12 saves for the Saints, while Avery Stamps finished with 14 for Skidmore.
St. Lawrence outshot Skidmore 50-32 including 28-18 in shots on goal. The Saints also picked up 48 ground balls to Skidmore's 26. Both teams notched a goal on the man advantage, with the Saints going 1-for-3 and the Thoroughbreds going 1-for-4.

With the win, the Saints improved to 9-0 on the season and 1-0 in conference play, while Skidmore fell to 8-2 and 0-1.

St. Lawrence returns home to take on Union on Saturday, March 30 at 1 p.m.
