Men’s Tennis Splits Pair of Matches in Florida

Courtesy of contributions from across the board, the St. Lawrence University men's tennis team split two matches on Tuesday, as the team continued their spring break outing in Orlando, Fla. 

With the split, St. Lawrence improves to 5-3 on the year.  

In the first matchup of the day, the Saints used balanced outputs from both singles and doubles en route to a 6-3 victory over Hendrix College.  

At the number one doubles spot, Adam Heilbronner and Broderick Pinto earned an 8-5 victory over Agustin Kalinowski and Maximilian Henderson while at the number 3 spot, Edvin Strandberg and John Hill-Edgar combined for a significant 8-4 win over Cason Cole and Robinson Wright.  

St. Lawrence then gained wins at the number two, four, five, and six spots to cement the early afternoon advantage. 

At the number two spot, Pinto gained his second win of the day with a solid 6-4 and 6-2 performance against Elijah Pierce. In the number 4 slot, Ben Moolman continued his efficient start in southern play with a 7-6 and 7-5 victory, to hand Henderson his second defeat of the day.  

At the number 5 spot, Hill-Edgar outlasted Santiago Perez, 6-3, 3-6, and 10-4 to claim the victory in three sets while Strandberg showcased a convincing 6-2, 6-2 score en route to his win in the number six spot, over Rowan McCollum.  

In the evening match the Saints faced a tough challenge, going up against Warner (Fla.), dropping a 7-0 decision.  

Ben Moolman and Jake David earned the lone win for St. Lawrence in the number two spot, posting a 6-3 victory over Sam Routzahn and Nikhil Mittal.  

The Scarlet and Brown return to action Wednesday, March 20th, as they have another double-header day against Huntingdon College at 11:30 a.m. and Franklin Pierce University at 5:30 p.m., in Orlando.
