Ben Moolman, John Hill-Edgar, and Edvin Strandberg all earned wins on the day, but it was not enough as the St. Lawrence University men's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to Hamilton College, Monday morning at the USTA National Campus in Orlando Florida.
St. Lawrence fell to 4-2 on the year while Hamilton improved to 5-3.
The Continentals swept doubles play posting a 3-0 record to start the morning off.
Hamilton would post three more wins in singles matchups in the 1-3 spots before the 4-6 spots were all claimed by the Scarlet and Brown.
At number four, Moolman took on Nicolas Gritz taking both sets 6-3 to earn the win. In spot five, Hill-Edgar earned the victory over Gianni Esposito in 3 sets. Esposito would claim the opening set 6-4 before Hill-Edgar stormed back to claim the last two sets 6-4 and 10-5 to gain the win. At number six, Strandberg gained the win over Neal Gupta in 3 sets with 6-4 and 6-4 wins in the first and third sets.
The Saints return to action in Florida on Tuesday, March 19th for two matches. The first is against Hendrix College, starting at 11:30 a.m., and the nightcap pits them against Warner University (Fla.) with a 5 p.m. start time.
